The best way to prevent the branches from breaking is to gently pull the branches inward. Use velcro or strings for gardening to gently tie the branches and stems together. This will cause the branches and stems to point upwards rather than outwards.

Finally, Carter says it's best to wrap the top of the plant to protect it on the move.
