If you can connect to the Internet, you can make money by doing simple tasks on your computer. However, as is often the case, microwork is not as easy as it is said in the streets.

Here's what you need to know.

Microwork is a series of microtasks. Sociologist Antonio Casilli defines microtasking as a "fragmented, low-paying production process."

Companies divide large projects into smaller tasks and make them large enough for anyone with an internet connection. And we hire people to undertake those tasks for a small fee.

These employments are usually through third-party dispatching agencies.

Large companies rely on private companies like Sama (formerly Samasource), and small businesses find workers on user platforms like Amazon Mechanical Turk, Fiverr, and Clickworker.

The types of microwork are very diverse, to say the least. Some are as simple as clicking on an ad to direct traffic, while others are a bit more complicated as transcribing what you say or formatting a file.
